C.Jessy Chou
Son of famed print artist Ying Chou, C. Jessy Chou (b. 1955) who formerly engaged in advertising industry was inspired to pick up the paintbrush totally dedicating to creation after he overcame life-threatening illness while he anew examined his life. A celebration of life and imperceptibly influenced by the aristocratic family, Chou has been flexible among oil painting, print and watercolor, his work is characterized by unique digital techniques that render psychedelic imagery. Chou's different life experiences morph into little details in his paintings, reminiscent of the distinct texture of his father's prints. The artificial palette in his work evokes pain, even a lightness that transcends suffering, which contributes to his singular visual aesthetics. Since his first artwork created in 2008, Chou has been invited to present exhibitions among Taiwan, Shanghai and Ningbo, received Special Jury Prize from the 21th National Printmaking Exhibition in 2013, and works have been collected by Ningbo Museum in China and Museum of Fine Art at Fujian Normal University
